Frequently asked questions
Does a heat pump work in Lancaster winters?
Yes. Standard heat pumps hold rated capacity down to about 30°F; cold-climate models (Bosch IDS 2.0, Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat) hold to 5°F or lower — well below Antelope Valley design temperature.
Will I need a larger electrical panel?
Sometimes. Removing a 40A gas furnace circuit and adding a 60A air-handler circuit is neutral. Full all-electric homes with EV charging often need a 200A upgrade.
What rebates apply?
SCE offers up to $3,000 for qualifying heat pumps. LADWP up to $2,000. Federal 25C credits expired 12/31/2025 — check /tax-credits for current status.
